UBCM Executive policies provide for the awarding of Life Memberships to the association. Section 6.6.2 of the policies state the following:
UBCM shall present Life Membership certificates to the immediate Past President and any other person(s) at the discretion of the UBCM Executive. UBCM retiring staff with 25 years service will be considered for a life membership.
In addition to the immediate Past President, the Executive has awarded Life memberships to previous ministers and deputy ministers responsible for local government; UBCM staff and on one occasion the Chair of an affiliated local government association.
As with the Long Service Awards, Life memberships are traditionally presented at the Annual Convention.
