Emergency Medical Assistants Education Fund

UBCM co-chairs the Emergency Medical Assistant Education Fund, which was established by BC Emergency Health Services in 2007 to support the education of emergency medical assistants in BC.

UBCM co-chairs the Advisory Committee, which approves criteria for awards; reviews and revises award criteria; and provides direction regarding the distribution of awards. Members on this Committee include two UBCM representatives, two CUPE representatives, two Health Authority representatives, and one BC Ambulance Services representative. The fund is administered by the Justice Institute of BC.

Since 2007, the Fund has disbursed approximately $9.2 million dollars, supporting the education of 743 primary care paramedics and 259 advanced care paramedics.
