Privacy Policy

The Union of British Columbia Municipalities (UBCM) is committed to providing our visitors with a web site that respects their privacy.

We do not gather any personal information from you while you are using this site, such as your name, phone number, e-mail or address. This information is only obtained if you supply it voluntarily, usually through contacting us via e-mail.

Information about individual visitors is not disclosed to anyone except UBCM personnel who need the information, e.g., to respond to a request.

The names and work-related contact information for local government elected and appointed officials, and for the staff of other organizations in the BC local government sector may be available on this site. This contact information is in the public domain, and it is not considered personal information.

We use software that receives and records the Internet Protocol (IP) address of computers that have contacted our web site. We make no attempt to link these addresses with the identity of individuals visiting our site. In addition, we use software that analyzes how our site is used, the materials that are accessed, and the search terms used. This information is never linked to individual users.

Visitors should be aware that certain non-personal information and data may be collected automatically by UBCM through "cookies". Cookies are small text files that identify an individual computer's browser as it enters a website, and track that browser's movement through the site. Cookies help a website recognize repeat visitors, facilitate those visitors' access to and use of the site, and allow a site to track use behavior that will facilitate content improvement. UBCM does not use cookies to identify visitors or track use of other websites.

If you do not want a cookie placed on your computer by UBCM, you may disable cookies by modifying the preferences section of your internet browser. It is possible, however, that some aspects of the UBCM website may be unavailable to you if you choose this option.
