Attracting entrepreneurs

Publishing Date

The Province has extended the BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) Entrepreneur Immigration Regional Pilot to March 31, 2024. The Regional Pilot has demonstrated its ability to attract and welcome experienced international entrepreneurs and their families to move to – and establish new businesses in – smaller regional centres.

The BC PNP will be opening intake to new communities who meet the eligibility criteria as of April 6, 2021. In order to be eligible to participate in the Regional Pilot, communities must have the endorsement of a local government with a population of fewer than 75,000 and be farther than 30 kilometres away from a municipality of more than 75,000. Communities wishing to participate will be asked to formally enroll by July 31, 2021 (currently enrolled communities are asked to re-confirm enrollment by June 30, 2021).

The BC PNP will be hosting a virtual information session for communities to provide more details about the Regional Pilot on April 29th from 10:30am – 12:00noon (PST). Participants may register in advance.

Senior local government officials, regional district officials, economic development officers, individuals or organizations who play a role in community economic development will benefit from this information session.

Attendees will:

  • gain a thorough understanding of the pilot including successes and challenges to date
  • understand the respective roles of the community and the Province
  • have enough information to consider future enrolment in the pilot for your community
