Professional Governance Act webinar for local government

A webinar for local governments on new legislation for professional governance will be held on April 7th. The Professional Governance Act (PGA) came into force on February 5th and replaces the individual statutes of regulatory bodies that govern engineers and geoscientists, applied science technology professionals, applied biology professionals, foresters, and agrologists.

The Office of the Superintendent of Professional Governance (OSPG) is interested in connecting with local governments on what the PGA means for them, and to hear what is important to local governments in the establishment of new reserved practices.

Local government employers of registrant professionals are invited to join a webinar on April 7, from 10 AM to 11 AM PDT. The webinar will cover several important topics, including:

  • The role of the OSPG and the role of regulatory bodies;
  • The regulation of firms by the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC;
  • Information on a new reserved practice proposed for applied biology and a future reserved practice proposal for agrology;
  • A new registrant and employer duty to report professional practice concerns

Registration for the Professional Governance Webinar is available online.
