Social Procurement & local government

Publishing Date

When governments across BC spend money, every dollar counts. An emerging procurement approach that can squeeze extra value out of every purchase is gaining traction: The British Columbia Social Procurement Initiative (BCSPI).

The initiative is helping local governments leverage what they already spend on goods, services and infrastructure to obtain additional social, economic and environmental values and benefits that support objectives identified as strategic community priorities.

With support from the Provincial Government, BCSPI membership is now available to communities across the province for a low-cost annual membership fee. Access the program brochure or read the latest case studies from the Comox Valley Regional District and the Village of Cumberland for a glimpse of what’s possible.

Contact Rob Fisher, Project Coordinator, BCSPI for further information or to discuss membership.
