A new intake for the Next Generation 911 funding program has been confirmed. Applications will be accepted starting October 1, 2025, with a deadline of February 13, 2026. Funding for the Next Generation 911 program is provided by the Province of BC and administered by UBCM.
The 2026 intake will be open for local governments (municipalities and regional districts) and First Nations (bands, modern Treaty First Nations with treaties in effect, and Indigenous National Governments with authority for lands and resources in BC) in BC.
Additionally, legally incorporated society-run fire departments that are in good standing, and improvement districts that operate a fire protection service, may apply for base funding. Base funding can be used to support local preparedness for NG911, limited to the purchase and installation of mobile Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) agents (i.e., mobile data terminals) in fire department vehicle(s) owned by the eligible applicant, provided the mobile CAD agent is compatible with NG911.
The intent of the Next Generation 911 program is to support local preparedness for the implementation of NG911 and to provide funding to eligible applicants to support the transition and operational readiness of existing 911 services to NG911, in compliance with the CRTC Mandate.
The 2026 Next Generation 911 Application-based Funding program can contribute up to 100% of the cost of eligible base funding activities to a maximum of $45,000.
