Provincial Response

MINISTRY OF ATTORNEY GENERAL The overall goal of the Ministry of Attorney General is to ensure that every law in British Columbia is as just, clear, predictable and effective as possible. A public discussion paper was released in 2002, asking if civil liability law in British Columbia should be reformed. The Ministry met with stakeholder groups and received submissions from local governments, those involved in the building industry, victims groups including people affected by leaky condos, and other interested individuals. Government carefully considered all of the issues and perspectives. Government also considered the experience in other jurisdictions. In the end result, government has decided not to proceed with law reform in these areas at this time.
