National Disaster Mitigation Program Funding

Publishing Date

The National Disaster Mitigation Program (NDMP) is currently accepting proposals from local governments seeking to understand and address flood risk. Interested parties have until midnight on January 7, 2021 to submit a proposal and supporting documentation to Emergency Management BC (EMBC).

The NDMP includes four project streams:

  • Risk Assessments;
  • Flood Mapping;
  • Mitigation Planning; and,
  • Investments in Non-Structural and Small Scale Structural Mitigation Projects.

Prior to submitting a project proposal, it is suggested that local governments review the Province’s NDMP funding webpage, which includes information regarding program guidelines and eligibility requirements, as well as links to required documents (e.g. proposal forms). Completed proposals and supporting documentation must be submitted to the EMBC Disaster Mitigation Unit by January 7, 2021.

The federal government recently renewed the NDMP for a sixth and final intake, making $25 million available for eligible projects throughout Canada. Provinces and territories, on behalf of eligible entities, are tasked with applying to the federal government for NDMP funding. The Program requires that successful projects be completed by March 31, 2022.
