1 Utility Tax on Long Distance Calls

WHEREAS Section 353 of the Local Government Act authorizes municipalities to receive 1 utility tax on gross receipts of sales of utility services within municipal government boundaries; AND WHEREAS long distance calls originate from the taxpayers and residents within the municipality and the revenue should be captured to support municipal services to these residents: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the provincial government amend Section 353 of the Local Government Act to reflect that the 1 utility tax includes long distance gross receipts.
