Local governments and UBCM First Nations members are invited to join a virtual information session on June 8, 1-2pm, regarding Look West – B.C.’s strategy to deliver major projects, expand skills training and grow key sectors to strengthen the economy. The session is open to local government officials and staff and will include a Q&A period. Please register in advance.
The B.C. Road Safety Strategy Steering Committee is inviting local governments to participate in virtual engagement sessions regarding the upcoming B.C. Road Safety Strategy 2030. Formal invitations have been distributed to all local governments, providing details on session dates, registration and how to submit feedback.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food is hosting a BC cannabis sector and policy initiatives webinar for local governments on June 17, 3:30-4:30pm. This webinar will provide updates to help inform local government discussions regarding non-medical cannabis. Registration is open to local government senior staff and elected officials.

This online webinar, hosted on April 9, 2026, provides an overview of modern treaties in British Columbia. The session explored the history of treaty negotiations in the province, highlighted recent policy developments, and examined the evolving role of local governments within the modern treaty process.

Local governments and UBCM First Nations members are invited to attend a virtual town hall hosted by the Honourable Brittny Anderson, Minister of State for Local Governments and Rural Communities, and the Honourable Ravi Parmar, Minister of Forests on Tuesday, February 3, from 1–2 pm, PST. The Intergovernmental Relations Secretariat (part of the Office of the Premier) has emailed invitations, including a registration link, directly to UBCM members.
The BC Wildfire Service will be hosting two webinars to engage with local governments on how local bylaws and provincial legislation work together to prevent human-caused wildfires.
The webinars are an opportunity to join staff from the BC Wildfire Service for an interactive workshop and engagement session. Content will include current approaches used in B.C. to protect public safety through regulating open burning and other activities.
The Electoral Area Directors’ Forum will take place March 10-11, 2026 at the Radisson Hotel Vancouver Airport, immediately followed by the Local Government Leadership Academy Forum (March 11-13).
