The Province has provided an update on its implementation of the Coastal Marine Strategy and will be holding a webinar for local government staff and officials on June 23.
Last week the Province provided an update on 20 marine stewardship projects that will be funded in 2026, in partnership with 23 First Nations and organizations as part of the strategy implementation. The projects will focus on coastal ecosystem health through activities such as habitat restoration, pollution prevention and cleanup, shoreline resilience, and support for traditional seafood systems.
The Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship will be holding a virtual engagement session on strategy implementation for local government staff and officials on Tuesday, June 23 from 9:30-11:00am. The session will review priority actions and share progress since the fall of 2025, including updates on early project supports and related policy work, a proposed model for collaboration on strategy implementation and next steps.
Local government staff and officials interested in attending the webinar can reach out to WLRS.CoastMarine@gov.bc.ca for details.
