Updates from UBCM's Executive, including reports from meetings, decisions, calls for nominations and more.
UBCM held its quarterly Executive and Committee meetings on April 22-24, 2026 in Victoria. In addition to these meetings, UBCM hosted a reception with Members of the Legislature, Ministers and the Premier on April 21, 2026. Executive members also attended meetings with Ministers during Advocacy Days to advance UBCM policy priorities.
UBCM held its quarterly Executive and Committee meetings on February 26-27, 2026 in Richmond. In addition to these meetings, two workshops were held on February 25, 2026:
UBCM held its first full quarterly meeting with the 2025-2026 Executive Board members on November 13-14, welcoming new and returning members. Executive members made decisions on all 57 resolutions that didn’t make it to the floor at 2025 Convention – see the full table below. Executive met with ministers Brittny Anderson and Christine Boyle to discuss several matters, including the Okanagan Falls incorporation process, regional district legislative reform, and the potential impact of bill M216 – Professional Reliance Act on local governments.
Elections for the 2025-26 Executive are in process; seven positions have been decided.
The next President of UBCM will be Councillor Cori Ramsay (Prince George). Councillor Jenna Stoner (Squamish), Mayor Sarrah Storey (Fraser Lake), and Councillor Aimee Grice (Oliver) will be the First, Second and Third Vice Presidents respectively.
The UBCM Executive held its quarterly Committee and board meetings July 16-18. The meeting provided closure on several year-end matters, and established direction for the year ahead. Executive members also met with the Minister of State for Local Governments and Rural Communities, the Honourable Brittny Anderson.
A Call for Nominations has been issued for local elected officials wishing to serve on the 2025-2026 UBCM Executive. The deadline for advance nominations is July 31, 2025 at 4pm.
The UBCM Executive held its quarterly Executive meeting in Victoria, April 1-3, in conjunction with advocacy meetings with Ministers and MLAs. The trade war was top of mind, and Executive are pleased to share two resources to help local governments respond.
UBCM Executive is in Victoria this week to meet with the Premier, Cabinet Ministers, the Leader of the Opposition and other MLAs to discuss core priorities for the coming year. As the trade war with the United States continues, UBCM is making the case for local infrastructure stimulus spending to support the economy.
The UBCM Executive held its quarterly Executive meeting in Richmond February 20-21, 2025. It was the first opportunity for the full UBCM Executive to meet with provincial Ministers newly responsible for local government affairs. We look forward to productive collaboration with the Honourable Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs, and the Honourable Brittny Anderson, Minister of State for Local Governments and Rural Communities on priority issues including housing, local government finance, addressing impacts of tariff on BC communities and more.
