The Active Transportation Planning program supports local governments to incorporate or enhance active transportation components of formal planning documents. Total funding has now increased to $30,000 per application. Funding permitting, applications will be accepted from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025.
The first transfer from the Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF) under the new ten-year administrative agreement is underway. Local governments across BC will share in $163 million in funding – the first of two such installments this year. It is expected that in total the Government of Canada will transfer $1.6 billion to BC communities throughout the current agreement.

UBCM, the Province of B.C. and the federal government are pleased to announce that a new administrative agreement has been signed to renew the delivery of the Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF) for the next 10 years. The longstanding infrastructure program will deliver approximately $3.5 billion to B.C.’s local governments over this period, including $1.7 billion for transit investments in Metro Vancouver.
Program information for the 2025 intake of the FireSmart Community Funding and Supports program has been posted. Applications can be submitted starting October 1, 2024. UBCM staff will host a webinar for applicants to learn about changes for the 2025 program on July 30, and October 2. Please register in advance.

Program materials for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 intakes of the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund are now available. The CEPF is a suite of funding streams intended to enhance the resiliency of local governments, First Nations, and communities in preparing for and responding to emergencies and climate-related risks.

The Province has introduced a new funding program to support First Nation and local government disaster risk reduction and climate-adaptation projects. The Disaster Resilience and Innovation Funding (DRIF) program will provide a total of $40 million over two years to address climate-driven hazards.
