New intakes for Community Emergency Preparedness Fund

Publishing Date

Funding streams under the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund have been confirmed for the next three years and intakes will open soon for fall 2025 and winter 2026. Funding for CEPF is provided by the Province of BC and administered by UBCM.

Funding permitting, the following intakes have been scheduled. Depending on the volume of applications and other factors, this schedule is subject to change.

Program materials for all funding streams except the new Foundations of Disaster Risk Reduction stream will be available shortly. Eligible applicants will be able to start submitting applications for the next round of intakes as of September 1, 2025.

Program and application materials for the new Foundations of Disaster Risk Reduction funding stream are expected to be available by November 2025. This funding stream will be similar to Category 1 and Category 2 of the previous Disaster Risk Reduction-Climate Adaptation funding stream with a focus on mitigation planning projects.

In past years, available CEPF funding has allowed a high percentage of eligible, recommended projects to be approved in most funding streams. However, as the total available CEPF funding has decreased, future intakes will have limited funding available and, due to the expected high volume of applications, UBCM expects these intakes will be substantially oversubscribed.

UBCM will be hosting two webinars to support eligible applicants.

  • The first webinar will be held on October 8, 2025 from 1:30-3:30 and will primarily cover the CEPF funding streams with intakes in fall 2025 and early winter 2026. Registration is open now.
  • The second webinar will follow in December 2025.
