The Community Emergency Preparedness Fund has added a new funding stream for Extreme Heat Risk Mapping, Assessment, and Planning. The application deadline is June 24, 2022.
The intent of the Extreme Heat Risk Mapping, Assessment, and Planning funding stream is to support eligible applicants to ensure they have accurate knowledge of the risks associated with extreme heat and how these risks will change over time, and to develop effective response plans and strategies to prepare, mitigate and adapt to those risks.
Eligible applicants include local governments (municipalities and regional districts) and all First Nations (bands and Treaty First Nations.
The Community Emergency Preparedness Fund is a suite of funding programs intended to enhance the resilience of local governments, First Nations and communities to better prepare for emergencies and the changing climate.
Starting in 2022, the province is introducing three new streams to CEPF: public notification and evacuation planning; extreme-heat risk mapping, assessment and planning; and disaster risk reduction/climate adaptation, which includes flood-risk reduction. Intakes will also reopen for volunteer and composite fire departments; Indigenous cultural safety and cultural-humility training; emergency support services; and emergency operations centres.
