May 10-16 is Local Government Awareness Week, and this year’s suggested theme is Financial Resiliency. The goal of the week is to generate awareness about the roles and responsibilities of local government, and to encourage public participation in local democracy.
This year’s theme, Financial Resiliency, is defined as a local government's ability to anticipate, absorb, adapt to and recover from financial volatility while continuing to deliver essential services to communities both now and in the future.
Local governments are encouraged to share information, resources and stories to give residents a glimpse into local government operations. Local Government Awareness Week resources are available on UBCM’s website.
