UBCM is seeking one local government representative to fill a vacancy on the Province’s Advisory Committee on Provincial Policing Standards. Given the technical nature of the issues that the committee will be considering, UBCM is looking to nominate one local government staff member. Interested individuals are asked to contact Bhar Sihota, UBCM Senior Policy Analyst, by February 6, 2026.
The purpose of Advisory Committee on Provincial Policing Standards (ACOPPS) is to assist the Province in reviewing existing and developing new BC Provincial Policing Standards. ACOPPS members are tasked with providing feedback on what standards to develop, suggesting subject matter experts who could assist in drafting standards on specific issues, and reviewing and providing input towards draft standards. Local government representatives are also asked to report back to UBCM regarding the work of the committee.
ACOPPS meets a minimum of three times per year, with most meetings expected to be held virtually (or to include a virtual/phone option). Members are asked to respect the confidential nature of the committee’s work.
The local government representative will serve on ACOPPS for a period of two years. Any expenses associated with attendance or participation at committee meetings will be the responsibility of the local government.
Local government staff members interested in submitting a nomination to the Advisory Committee on Provincial Policing Standards are asked to contact Bhar Sihota, UBCM Senior Policy Analyst, by February 6, 2026.
