Support for BC Conservation Officer Services

Whereas the BC Conservation Officer Service is responsible for public safety focused on natural resource law enforcement and human wildlife conflicts prevention; And whereas underfunding and understaffing has an ongoing negative impact on the ability of the BC Conservation Officer Service to meet the needs of the communities served; And whereas continued reductions to conservation officers in the field results in the inability to adequately monitor and enforce activities throughout large management units: Therefore be it resolved that the provincial government be requested to review its staffing model to work toward adequate funding and staffing to better support the BC Conservation Officer Service in providing services.
