Long Term Care - Review of Staffing Levels and Resident Care

Whereas private long-term care providers are contracted by the health authority who is responsible for setting direct care hours to each resident; And whereas the current requirement for direct care hours is 3.00 3.36 hours per day, per resident which can include care from regulated professionals: Therefore be it resolved that UBCM petition the Province of British Columbia to review staffing levels and resident care by increasing the standard to 4.0 hours of direct care to create the funding and contractual framework needed to hire additional staff and better meet the growing complexity of residents in long-term care.
