Tragedy in Tumbler Ridge

Publishing Date

UBCM’s board members extend their deepest condolences to the residents of Tumbler Ridge in the wake of the shootings at its high school yesterday. We join all British Columbians today in sorrow for those who lost their lives, those who were injured, and for the trauma experienced by survivors, first responders and the community.

We are particularly mindful of Mayor Darryl Krakowka and Council and District staff. Writing to Mayor Krakowka last night, UBCM president Cori Ramsay pledged the support of local governments as the District assists the residents of Tumbler Ridge in their grief.

“Please know that you are not facing this tragedy alone. Communities across the north and across the province are holding you in their thoughts, grieving alongside you, and hoping for healing in the days ahead. I want to extend my heartfelt support for your leadership as you take on the difficult work of response, recovery and caring for those most deeply affected.”
