Summary on Marine Debris Consultation

Publishing Date

Parliamentary Secretary for Environment, Sheila Malcolmson, has published a report summarizing the feedback from stakeholders on marine debris. The consultations took place through the summer and early fall of 2019.

In April 2019, Malcolmson was appointed as Special Advisor for Marine Debris Protection, and Parliamentary Secretary for Environment, to provide recommendations on abandoned vessels, marine debris and marine-sourced plastics. A progress report was released in September 2019.

As a next step, Malcolmson will submit a final report with recommendations to Honourable George Heyman, Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, by early spring 2020.
