Two new guidance documents developed through the Province's Stewarding Agricultural Watercourses (SAW) project are now available.
The Stewarding Agricultural Watercourses (SAW) project focuses on improving understanding and stewardship of watercourses on agricultural lands. Phase One of the project (2021-2023) included engagement with farmers, ranchers, and other stakeholders and resulted in an Action Plan that identified priorities for future work.
As part of Phase Two, the Province has released the Legislative Guide to Watercourses on Agricultural Lands and the Changes In and About a Stream (CIAS) Guide for Agricultural Users. The guides provide plain-language information on legislation and regulatory processes commonly associated with agricultural watercourses that may also be useful for local government staff involved in planning, engineering, environmental management, and development review.
