The plenary session at this year’s Convention will focus on BC’s economy, given recent data on the province’s finances, debt and credit downgrades. Speakers will assess how serious the situation is and consider challenges to getting the economy back on course. BC’s Minister of Finance will provide opening remarks followed by an economic overview from a managing director with the National Bank of Canada. Panelists will respond to the overview and take questions from the audience.

Warren Lovely is a managing director of economics and strategy with the National Bank of Canada. He will give an economic update on BC’s finances and its economic outlook.
Panel discussion with David Williams and Tamara Vrooman
David Williams is the Vice President of Policy at the Business Council of BC. He leads the development of research and advice to government on economic policy, productivity, investment, innovation, taxation and human capital.
Tamara Vrooman is the President and CEO of the Vancouver International Airport. She previously served as President and CEO of Vancity credit union and as Deputy Minister of Finance for the Province.
