FireSmart Community Funding and Supports (FCFS) program applicants are reminded of the April 30, 2026 deadline for the submission of application materials. This includes:
- 2026 Winter/Spring Closed Intake for application-based funding: applicants are required to submit their application in full prior to April 30.
- 2026 Winter/Spring Closed Intake for allocation-based funding: applicants are required to submit their application in full prior to April 30.
- 2026 Open Intake program: eligible applications, eligible requests for allocation-based funding, eligible fuel management applications, and eligible Worksheet 4 submissions are required to be submitted in full by April 30.
- Approved 2024 or 2025 projects: eligible requests to use approved allocation-based funding for fuel management projects are required to be submitted in full by April 30.
- Applicants who initiated eligible requests for additional funding for wildfire impacted communities prior to January 30, 2026, are required to submitted in full by April 30.
FCFS transitioned to a closed intake earlier this year to ensure fair distribution of remaining funds. For more information: refer to Transition to 2026 Winter/Spring Closed Intake FAQ.
The program provides funding for local governments and First Nations to undertake community-based FireSmart planning and activities that reduce the community’s risk from wildfire. The First Nations’ Emergency Services Society and the UBCM work with the Ministry of Forests to deliver FCFS.
