Feedback sought on cannabis regulations

Publishing Date

Health Canada is seeking feedback on potential amendments to federal Cannabis Regulations. The focus of this process is to find ways to reduce regulatory burden, while still adequately addressing public health and safety risks. Feedback will be accepted until May 24, 2023.

Specific areas of focus include:

  • Licensing requirements;
  • Personnel or physical security requirements for federal cannabis licence holders;
  • Production requirements for cannabis products;
  • Packaging and labelling requirements for cannabis products; and
  • Record keeping and reporting requirements for federal cannabis licence holders.

Local governments can also use this as an opportunity to identify and give input on other high-priority regulatory issues.

Those wishing to participate are asked to submit feedback to Health Canada by May 24, 2023, with the following title in the subject line: “Notice of Intent — Consultation on Potential Amendments to the Cannabis Regulations.”

This consultation process is being conducted separately from the ongoing Cannabis Act review, which began last year.
