The Province has released its draft framework for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Health, in keeping with a recommendation (2) from the Old Growth Strategic Review. The draft framework will help with conservation and managing ecosystem health and biodiversity by formalizing protection through legislation and other enabling tools. The draft is the culmination of a series of engagement sessions held by the Province last spring.
UBCM members have signaled support for the protection and restoration of biological diversity and ecosystem health through the resolutions process, and have sought to be consulted and involved as the Province, in collaboration with First Nations, moves forward to implement the direction.
The Province will be holding engagement sessions about the draft framework on:
- Thursday, November 30, 2023, 10:00 am – 12 noon
- Monday, December 11, 2023, 2:00 – 4:00 pm
- Wednesday, January 3, 2024, 9:30 – 11:30 am
