Call for climate action project ideas

Publishing Date

The BC Climate-Aligned Stimulus Working Group is seeking project ideas from BC communities that would contribute to post-COVID economic recovery and stimulus, while advancing local and provincial climate mitigation and adaptation goals. The deadline for submitting project ideas is July 12.

The BC Climate-Aligned Stimulus Working Group is a new, ad-hoc group that is working to ensure that the Provincial Economic Recovery Strategy significantly includes climate action as an investment priority. It is being convened by the Vancouver Economic Commission, with support from Community Energy Association and BC Hydro.

As part of this work, the Group is sourcing a list of projects from communities across BC that would contribute to post-COVID economic recovery and stimulus, while advancing local and provincial climate mitigation and adaptation goals. The final outputs of the working group will be to develop an investment framework to fit within the Recovery Strategy, based on identified projects and funding needs across the province. The Working Group will be meeting with representatives from the Provincial Government in July and August to bring forward these recommendations.

Communities are asked to fill out the survey to submit project ideas to use as examples with the Province to advocate for targeted climate action funding as part of the stimulus and budget 2021. The project ideas can be at various stages of readiness, be specific to a particular location, or more general in nature. The Working Group will not be advocating for these projects individually, but will be sharing the project list with the Province.

Project ideas should be submitted by July 12. Multiple project idea can also be submitted to the Working Group. Questions can be directed to the Community Energy Association.
