Additional grant funding for wildfire impacted communities

Publishing Date

Eligible applicants to the 2024 FireSmart Community Funding and Supports Program with an existing FireSmart program that were directly impacted by the 2023 wildfire season may apply for up to an additional $100,000 to support incremental FireSmart activities due to increased local demand for wildfire risk reduction.

Additional grant funds can be used towards eligible education, community planning, development consideration, and residential area activities, or to create additional FireSmart positions.

To be eligible for additional funding, applicants must have an existing FireSmart program, meet the requirements for impacted communities as outlined in the 2024 Program and Application Guide, demonstrate an increase in demand for FireSmart activities since the wildfire season, and be eligible for 2024 FireSmart Community Funding and Supports funding.

The FireSmart Community Funding and Supports program operates on an open intake model with applications being accepted until September 30, 2024. Additional information can be found in the 2024 Program and Application Guide or by contacting cri@ubcm.ca.
