Prime Minister Trudeau has announced that Federal Gas Tax funding allocated for the current year will be transferred to provinces and territories through a single payment in June. This decision means that local governments will receive the full allocation for this year under the Community Works Fund in one payment rather than two. The amount of funding slated for local governments in B.C. is approximately $280.4 million.
Once received, UBCM will deliver the funds through the various funding streams of the Federal Gas Tax Fund in B.C., including the Community Works Fund. UBCM anticipates this CWF transfer to occur later in June or early July.
