The virtual symposium will be held on Wednesday, May 26th, 2021 and this year’s theme is FireSmart BC - Our Shared Responsibility. The symposium will deliver a dynamic and engaging event with a wide variety of interesting FireSmart topics and guest speakers. Topics will include:

  • Climate Change and the Wildland–urban Interface (WUI)
  • Prescribed Fire
  • Successful Rebate Programs
  • Wildland–urban Interface (WUI) Risks
  • FireSmart Community Success Stories
  • Community Wildfire Resiliency Committees

The symposium is open to all participants, but will be of special interest to local governments, First Nations, fire departments, local FireSmart representatives, FireSmart community champions, consultants working with communities on Community Resiliency Investment projects, and BC Wildfire Service staff. The cost to attend will be $100 per participant, and registration is expected to open mid-March.

Event details will be posted on the FireSmart BC website.
