Share Your Economic Development Practices

UBCM, the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training and the BC Economic Development Association are looking to gain further insight into how economic development is approached in BC communities.  Local governments are encouraged to respond to the survey by April 1, 2016 to make their views known.

The purpose of this survey is to gain a better understanding of the opportunities, challenges and unique activities being undertaken across the province, as well as looking at how the local economic development landscape has shifted since the last time the survey was conducted by UBCM in 2009.

The survey is looking to identify:

  • What activities are commonly undertaken,
  • How economic development functions are structured,
  • What planning and measurement processes are in place, and
  • What challenges are being faced.

Your feedback will assist all three organizations to better support BC communities with resources, training, guidance and sharing of best practices, as well as providing a province-wide snapshot of current economic development practices.

A report on the survey findings will be made publicly available.  For further information please contact Marie Crawford, Associate Executive Director, UBCM.
