Elected Official Sought for MMBC Advisory Committee

UBCM is calling for expressions of interest from local government representatives who wish to sit on Multi-Materials BC’s Advisory Committee.   The Advisory Committee serves as a forum for stakeholders impacted by the provincial packaging and printed paper stewardship program to be kept informed of program developments and to provide feedback on core program elements.

Local government representation on the Committee is part UBCM’s efforts to monitor the implementation of the packaging and printed paper stewardship program.

The role of the Committee is to:

  • provide feedback and advice on stewardship program operations and anticipated modifications necessary to meet program objectives and targets;
  • identify issues that might concern stakeholders and suggest how they might be addressed;
  • foster collaborative problem-solving on matters of joint-interest;
  • foster better communication and understanding between MMBC, impacted stakeholders and member companies;
  • ensure committee members are kept up-to-date on the performance of the program, and provide them with the tools they need to keep their members informed; and
  • share information about trends in the marketplace relating to product formulation and/or packaging design that could impact the success of MMBC’s program and explore options on how to address related issues.

UBCM has three seats on the Advisory Committee – two voting seats for elected officials and one non-voting technical seat for staff.  UBCM is currently seeking expressions of interest for one of the elected official seats, which has recently become vacant.

For those elected officials interested in sitting on the Committee, please send your expression of interest to Jared Wright, Director of Advocacy and Governments Relations (250) 387-0891.

Please note that UBCM’s call for expressions of interest will close on Wednesday, February 11th.
