Program Unveiled for 2014 LGLA Leadership Fourm

Calling all elected officials and senior administrators from BC local governments and First Nations communities…the 2014 LGLA Leadership Fourm is fast approaching.  The LGLA has put together an excellent line-up of speakers, panel discussions and events this year, including high-profile leadership coaches Carol Ann Fried and Joyanne Landers, a panel of engaging young leaders from around the province, and Dr. Paul Kershaw of the “Generation Squeeze” campaign.

Several sessions in this year's program will provide delegates with opportunities to reflect on the personal side of local government service.  Joyanne Landers and Carol Ann Fried are renowned leadership coaches and motivational speakers who want you to take a moment out of your busy lives to consider work-life balance and finding joy in your job as a local government elected official or staff member.  Delegates can also join Mayor Christina Benty, of Golden, for a “from-the-trenches” take on health and wellness on Friday morning.

Another feature of this year's Forum is a Wednesday afternoon all-star panel of young leaders and first-time mayors for a panel discussion on local government leadership Wednesday afternoon, and follow that up with a session on Citizen Engagement for all generations by 2013 LGMA Keynote Speaker Dr. Paul Kershaw of UBC.

Accommodation can still be booked at the Radisson, although the special $99 UBCM/LGLA Group Rate is now oversubscribed.  Rooms are available for a secondary special rate of $119/night on February 4th and 5th, and there is currently a waitlist for rooms on February 6th (with good possibility of getting in).  Act soon to ensure you get a room onsite!
