Comment Deadline Extended for Soil Relocation & Site Profile Process

Discussions on changes to British Columbia’s legal regime for soil relocation and site profiles continue.  The Ministry of Environment has developed discussion papers that focus on the prevention of site contamination from soil relocation and the mechanisms for identifying potentially contaminated sites (site profile process). Discussion papers for both topics were posted in September for comment.  The original closing date for comments was December 10, 2014.

However, in response to requests made by stakeholders, the Ministry is extending the consultation period for the Land Remediation Legislative and Regulatory Review – Soil Relocation & Site Profile Process.  The closing date for receiving comments is now Monday, February 2, 2015.

The Ministry will also be hosting further webinars to review discussion documents and update stakeholders on consultation responses to date.  The webinars will take place on January 14, 2015.  Those local governments interested in receiving information about or participating in the webinars can contact Cindy Bertram at for further details.
The discussion papers and response forms can be found on the Land Remediation Section of the Ministry’s website.
