2013 Age-friendly Grants Available

Grants of up to $20,000 are now available for community planning initiatives and projects focused on age-friendly communities and helping seniors to age in place and live active, socially-engaged and independent lives.

Proposals should be community driven and catalysts for action; demonstrate coordination among community partners and different levels of government; and lead to sustainable results.

With funding from the Province, UBCM has advanced the age-friendly agenda since 2007 to engage and support local governments in preparing their communities for an aging population. The 2013 program will assist local governments to develop and implement policies and plans to support aging populations and prevent elder abuse.

An age-friendly community is one where older people are supported to live active, socially engaged, and independent lives through policies, services and structures designed to support them.

More information is available on the Seniors' Housing & Support Initiative page.

UBCM's Local Government Program Services and Gas Tax Management Services have managed grants available to local governments since 2004. See Local Government Program Services for current UBCM Local Government Program Services offerings.
