Mayors' Caucus February 22-24
Feb. 15, 2017
The next meeting of the Mayors' Caucus will be held in Victoria February 22-24. The biannual meeting provides a retreat opportunity for BC mayors to identify common priorities and network with colleagues. For this meeting the Mayors' Caucus will also join with UBCM Executive in an evening reception with Members of the Legislative Assembly.
In preparation for the meeting, a survey was made available to BC mayors to identify topics of interest. The top concern identified—which will be discussed at the meeting—is the state of public infrastructure and its finance.
The Mayors' Caucus meeting is concurrent with the meeting of UBCM's Executive in Victoria. The Executive will be meeting with MLAs to advance broad local government priorities in advance of the provincial election. UBCM will participate in the Mayors' Caucus agenda and will draw upon the discussions to inform further development of its policy and advocacy.
Rounding out the Mayors' Caucus agenda are a Q & A session with representatives of the three main parties; a tour of the Western Canada Emergency Operations Centre; and a tour of CFB Esquimalt. The Lieutenant Governor Judith Guichon will also be in attendance.
The District of Oak Bay is the host of this next iteration of the Mayors' Caucus and Mayor Nils Jensen will chair the sessions. Presently 65 mayors are registered. Anyone wishing to attend should contact Councillor Hazel Braithwaite.Go to Top
