Provincial Urban Deer Advisory Committee Update

The Provincial Urban Deer Advisory Committee (PUDAC) has convened and met to discuss ongoing urban deer challenges across the Province.  The Committee met on August 15th and will be meeting again on September 7th.  PUDAC will be identifying goals for the year as well as providing input on the program plan for the Urban Deer Cost-Share Program.

The Committee is a multi-stakeholder committee tasked with providing support to local governments that are managing and addressing urban deer issues within BC.  It will provide advice and share information on the resourcing, processes, roles and responsibilities, communication and educational materials and processes that relate to urban deer management.

The creation of the Provincial Urban Deer Advisory Committee arises from Minister Steve Thomson’s commitment to address urban deer issues as well as from a 2015 joint UBCM-Provincial deer management workshop recommendation.
