Webinar: Solid Waste Management Planning

An intentions paper proposing changes to the Guide for the Preparation of Regional Solid Waste Management Plans (Guide) is scheduled for release in September 2015, at which time the public, local government, and stakeholders will be invited to comment on the proposed changes. In advance of the paper’s release, the Ministry of Environment is offering, via webinar, a thematic overview of the intentions paper.

On May 21, 2015 the provincial Ministry of Environment announced plans to update the Guide for the Preparation of Regional Solid Waste Management Plans. In June 2015, the Ministry held a series of stakeholder information meetings to present the scope, consultation strategy and timeline for the Guide’s update. In follow up to these meetings, the Ministry is offering a 1-hour webinar to summarize the proposed themes of the intentions paper, focusing on intentions regarding process changes. Guiding principles will not be part of the webinar content; rather, they will be introduced in the intentions paper itself.

The webinar will be offered three times:

Date Time
Wednesday, August 5 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. PDT
Wednesday, August 5 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. PDT
Monday, August 10 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. PDT

The content will be the same for each webinar. The presentation will be made available to participants afterwards and, upon request, shared with those who were not able to attend.

Those wishing to attend must register for a webinar. Registrants will receive a confirmation email containing instructions for joining the webinar. Technical questions about webinar logistics may be addressed to Cindy Bertram (tel: 250-912-9995).
