UBCM Appointment Sought to Real Estate Foundation of BC

UBCM is currently looking to appoint a local elected official to the Board of Governors of the Real Estate Foundation of BC (REFBC) as a result of an Order in Council passed on June 8, 2015.

The Real Estate Foundation of BC was established in 1985 as a provincially legislated nonprofit corporation that provides grants and other forms for funding to non-profit organizations whose projects aim to improve land use and/or real estate practices in the province of BC.   The Foundation’s mission is to transform land use attitudes and practices to make BC communities better and stronger. As the Foundation marks over 25 years of grant making, it must continue to adapt to global economic uncertainty and stay attuned to the changing needs of BC communities – both urban and rural.

The board meets quarterly, over 2 days, with the next meeting scheduled for December 17 and December 18, with a pre-meeting Governors’ dinner scheduled for the evening of December 16th.  Subsequent meeting dates and locations are:

  • March 30th and 31st  (Vancouver)
  • June 10th and 11th (Parksville)
  • Sept 29th and 30th (Vancouver)
  • Dec 15th and 16th (Vancouver)

REFBC arranges and covers the travel and accommodation for board members.

If you have questions, or wish to apply for this appointment please submit your name and a short bio, outlining why you feel you are best able to represent community interests on the REFBC to Marie Crawford, UBCM Associate Executive Director by October 30th.
