Former Merritt Councillor, Mayor Passes Away

Harry Kroeker, who held public office with the City of Merritt for 21 years, passed away last weekend.  Mr. Kroeker served as Alderman, Councillor and Mayor during his years of elected service.  Kroeker also was a elected President of the Southern Interior Local Government Association and served on UBCM’s Executive for two terms.

“Harry served his community faithfully for many years,” said UBCM President Sav Dhaliwal.  “He was a champion for Merritt and kept the best interests of the City in mind in all of his work. It was a pleasure to serve with him on UBCM Executive; he will be missed."

Mr, Kroeker also served as a Director with the TransCanada Yellowhead Highway Association.

A memorial service will be held Saturday March 7, 3:00 p.m. at Crossroads Community Church in Merritt.  The family has asked for donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in lieu of flowers.
