Memorial Set for UBCM Life Member Dinwoodie

Aaron Dinwoodie passed away last week following a battle with cancer. He was 54. Mr. Dinwoodie's memorial will be held at Lakeview Heights Community, 860 Anders Road, West Kelowna, on Sunday May 25th at 2:00 PM.

Mr. Dinwoodie was a Director for Westside in the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) from 1996 until 2007. Dinwoodie was elected President of UBCM in 2004.

"He was very energetic and liked to take charge of issues in Westside," said RDCO Chair and UBCM Past President, Robert Hobson.

Hobson recalled Dinwoodie as a smart politician who was able to get along with other politicians at all levels of government. "He was quite good at lobbying for things that he felt would be of interest to his taxpayers. He knew how to talk to those folks."

Many in the Central Okanagan region regard Mr. Dinwoodie's contributions to the creation of the Electoral Area of Westside, which eventually became the District of West Kelowna, as his greatest legacy.

UBCM President Rhona Martin said she was saddened to hear of Dinwoodie's death. “Aaron was passionate about politics which was evident in the energy he dedicated toward the incorporation of West Kelowna. On behalf of UBCM I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to his family and friends.”
