Land Title Survey E-Filing

Is your local government ready to move to required E-filing with the Land Title Survey Authority of British Columbia (LTSA)? Over the past few years, the LTSA has been moving toward a phased implementation process to file land title documents and plans electronically.

Up until this year, local governments have been exempt from this requirement. The Director of Land Titles plans to announce changes to electronic filing exemptions in late February 2014. All local governments with populations over 5,000 will be expected to file electronically by the following dates:
  • August 31, 2014: local governments with populations over 20,000
  • December 31, 2014: local governments with populations of 5,000 and over
While an exemption will remain for local governments with populations under 5,000, they are encouraged to electronically file, as further Required E-filing announcements affecting this group will be made in the future. The LTSA has developed the Authorized Subscriber Register (ASR) to enable eligible local government statutory officers and BC Commissioners to electronically sign and submit land title documents.
