Horgan Sets Out LNG Principles

In his speech to delegates on Thursday, Opposition Leader John Horgan set out four principles that approved LNG projects should meet in order to receive his support.

Mr. Horgan said that LNG projects should proceed only if they guarantee good-paying jobs for British Columbians; provide a fair return to British Columbians; that First Nations have a share in the benefits that flow from LNG; and that BC’s LNG industry be the cleanest it can be.

Horgan characterized the recently released Public Sector Compensation Review as “one-sided and politically motivated”.  Speaking to Minister Stone’s response to UBCM’s report on ferry fare increases, Horgan said the Minister’s comments were “typical of this government’s three step approach when problems are brought to their attention. Step one: ignore. Step two: minimize. Step three: blame.”
