Asset Management Planning Grant Program Launched

A new planning grant program has been launched to assist local governments deliver sustainable services by extending and deepening asset management practices within their organizations. The Asset Management Planning Program is supported by a $1.5 million contribution from the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development.

Communities build infrastructure to provide services. These services enable our quality of life, protect health and safety, and promote social and economic prosperity. These assets are expected to function effectively and efficiently for many years.

The program seeks to support local governments to take next steps on the path to better asset management practices. A further objective of the program is to support local governments in meeting their asset management commitments under the Gas Tax Fund.

First announced by Minister Oakes at September’s UBCM Convention, grants of up to $10,000 in matching funds are available with applications due by March 20, 2015.
