Shuffle Brings Five BC Voices into Cabinet

Primer Minister Stephen Harper's cabinet shuffle earlier this week increased the number of MPs from British Columbia by two.  The shuffle included the appointment of James Moore, MP for Port Moody – Westwood – Port Coquitlam as the Industry Minister, putting him in charge of a portfolio that includes the development of Canada's oil and gas industries.

Mr. Moore is joined by two other BC cabinet Ministers with new appointments.  Delta-Richmond East MP Kerry-Lynne Findlay was made Minister of National Revenue, and John Duncan (Vancouver Island North) is now the Chief Government Whip. Abbotsford MP Ed Fast retained his role as the Minister of International Trade as did Richmond MP Alice Wong, who will continue as the Minister of State for Seniors.

Other moves of interest to BC local governments include the division of the former Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure into two ministries.  Denis Lebel now heads the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Lisa Raitt is the Minister of Transport.   Peter McKay, formerly the Minister of Defense, is the new Minster of Justice and Attorney General of Canada.

The Primer Minister announced the changes via Twitter on Monday.
