RCMP Contract Management Committee Positions Available

UBCM is currently looking to fill two vacancies on the British Columbia Local Government Contract Management Committee (LGCMC).  One position is for a local government representative policed by the RCMP in Metro Vancouver, and the other position is for an electoral area representative from a regional district policed by the RCMP.

The purpose of the LGCMC is to provide a forum for consultation, analysis and communication between local governments and the Province regarding the management of the Municipal Police Unit Agreements (MPUAs).  The Committee analyzes and responds to changes proposed by the federal government and the RCMP, and recommends changes where considered necessary or appropriate.

The LGCMC appointment term is until the 2014 local government elections, with the Committee holding at least two in-person meetings per year. Reasonable meeting attendance expenses will be bourn by UBCM.  Further information on the LGCMC's structure is available in the Committee's Terms of Reference.

If you are interested in participating in the LGCMC, please contact UBCM Senior Policy Analyst, Ken Vance by July 12, 2013. The UBCM Executive will look to make the LGCMC appointments at its upcoming meeting on July 19, 2013.
