Gas Tax & Public Transit Expenditure Report Released

The 2011 Gas Tax and Public Transit Annual Expenditure Report has now been released, showing Gas Tax and Public Transit expenditures for the year ending December 31, 2011.

The 2011 year was highlighted by a number of milestones for the Gas Tax Fund, with spending on local government infrastructure surpassing the $500 million mark. 

Local governments continue to invest in projects which lead to cleaner air, cleaner water and reduced GHGs in a number of categories, including: public transit, roads and bridges, active transportation infrastructure, water and wastewater, solid waste and community energy, integrated community sustainability and capacity building.

Other highlights for 2011 include:
  • 329 new Gas Tax funded projects
  • 533 Active Gas Tax funded projects
  • 1577 cumulative Gas Tax funded projects
  • Over $100 million awarded under the General Strategic Priorities Fund and the Innovations Fund
