Local Government Awareness Week
UBCM, in partnership with CivicInfo BC, the Local Government Management Association, Ministry of Community and Rural Development, and Ministry of Education, is pleased to announce:
Local Government Awareness Week in BC from May 16- 22, 2010
This is an ongoing initiative with the goal to generate awareness and educate the public about the roles and responsibilities of local government, and encourage the public to participate in local government processes, including voting in local elections.
Please visit www.lgaw.bc.ca for more information and resources to get you started. We will continue to post new information on this website as we prepare for Local Government Awareness Week 2011!
Also, a new category has been added for UBCM's Excellence Awards called 'Best Practices, Best Civic Engagement'. If your local government participated in Awareness Week, we want to hear what you did and how you engaged your community. Look for the Excellence Awards application package on the UBCM website in early June.
