Ensuring Local Government Financial Resiliency

The Select Committee on Local Government Finance has issued its August 2021 report entitled:

Ensuring Local Government Financial Resiliency - Today's Recovery and Tomorrow's New Economy

The report forms the basis of Policy Paper #1 for debate at the 2021 Convention, and is included in Policy Book 1.

Ensuring Local Government Financial Resiliency focuses on cost-drivers for three key areas: Attainable Housing; Community Safety; and Climate Change. The Committee felt this approach would address the three biggest cost-drivers for local governments, and also identify potential solutions to priority issues that were common to both local governments and the Province.

About the Select Committee

The current UBCM Select Committee on Local Government Finance was re-established in late 2019. The Committee members are:
